Utility companies and government agencies have equipment under the City's streets. They access their equipment using square or rectangular-shaped metal covers.

Companies and agencies must maintain their metal covers and the street surface around the hardware.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) inspects damaged roadways surrounding utility hardware. DOT will also inspect broken or noisy metal covers.

If the condition is confirmed, DOT will issue a notice to the company or agency responsible for repairing the condition within 30 days.
