Pathogens Permit

You need a Permit to Possess or Cultivate Pathogens to have or grow living organisms that cause disease.

Fees

If you apply between:

November 1 and April 30, the permit fee is $112.50
May 1 and October 31, the permit fee is $225

The permit renewal fee is $225 per year.

Expiration Date

The permit expires each year on April 30.

You can renew through DOHMH’s license and permit portal. You need to have an account and a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Renew by Mail

Several weeks before your permit expires, the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) will mail you a renewal package. Follow the directions on the renewal notice to renew by mail.
