New York City has social adult day care programs and medical adult day care programs.

You can find out about social and medical adult day care programs and services provided and locations in your area.

Social adult day care programs serve adults of all ages with functional impairments, including but not limited to physical frailness, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease.

They are structured programs that provide supervised group activities, including:

  • Socialization
  • Recreation
  • Meals
  • Transportation (in some instances)

Social adult day care programs do not provide medical services. For older adults, they may be a good option for individuals seeking socialization and other services whose needs cannot be met at an Older Adult Center
