The Department of Finance (DOF) provides tax clearance certificates.

As of March 28, 2024, general vendor and food vendor applicants no longer need to provide a tax clearance letter from DOF in order to get a license or permit from:

Department of Health and Mental Hygiene
Department of Consumer and Worker Protection

DOF certifies that taxi and limousine companies are current with their New York City business taxes when they apply for licenses or renewals. This is called a tax clearance.

If you own a taxi or limousine company and the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) informs you that they need a clearance letter, you can request it by contacting DOF.
