New York City will host a ticker-tape parade and City Hall ceremony honoring the New York Knicks. Immediately following the parade, Mayor Mamdani will host a championship celebration and Key to the City ceremony on the City Hall Plaza.

The parade is scheduled to start at 10 AM on Thursday, June 18. It will start near Bowling Green in Lower Manhattan and travel north along Broadway to City Hall.

Viewing along the route free and open to all ages. Families are welcome. No tickets are required. As with any large public event, please plan for crowds, weather, and street congestion. There will be no dedicated restroom access for this event. 

Additional street closures and security measures will be announced closer to the parade.

Security Screening and Prohibited Items

All parade attendees will be screened. Pens will open at 6 AM.

No bags will be allowed.

Other prohibited items include:

  • Glass or metal water bottles (plastic water bottles allowed)
  • Bats/batons
  • Bicycles or scooters
  • Chairs
  • Coolers
  • Drones
  • Backpacks
  • Pets
  • Strollers
  • Umbrellas
  • Weapons

Access for Residents and Workers in Area

Individuals who work in office buildings along routes will be allowed entry into those buildings with proper building identification.

Individuals who live in the area will be able to access their residences with proper identification.

The following locations are access points to the parade route:

Driving and Parking Restrictions

Starting at 7 PM on Wednesday, June 17, parking will not be allowed south of Canal Street. Cars will be towed if they are not removed. 

Starting at 7 AM on Thursday, June 18, south of Canal Street will be shut down to vehicular traffic from the Hudson River to the East River. The FDR and West Side Highway will remain open.

Traffic coming off the Brooklyn Bridge into Manhattan will only be able to go northbound on the FDR. Pedestrians will be able to use the walkway.

Consider alternate routes and allow for additional travel time.

Ferry Service

Staten Island Ferry service will run every 15 minutes between 7 AM and 9 AM and between 1 PM and 4 PM to accommodate Staten Islanders attending the parade.

Public Transit 

Starting at 4:30 AM on Thursday, June 18, the following subway stations will be closed. They will reopen following the parade and ceremony at City Hall.

  • Wall Street (4, 5)
  • City Hall (R, W)

The following stations will be open:

  • Bowling Green (4, 5)
  • Fulton (4, 5, J, Z, 2, 3)
  • Brooklyn Bridge (4, 5, 6)
  • Chambers St (J, Z)
  • Park Place (2, 3)

New York City will give away 600 free tickets to Thursday’s City Hall ceremony celebrating the New York Knicks' NBA championship. 

A public lottery for tickets was held until 11 AM on Wednesday, June 17. The lottery is now closed.

The lottery will select 300 winners. Each winner will be notified and will receive two tickets.

The ceremony will begin at noon on City Hall Plaza and will feature speeches, musical performances and a special presentation honoring the team’s championship season. Mayor Mamdani will also present the New York Knicks with Keys to the City in recognition of their historic achievement.
