Families can register for a chance to experience NYC Parks' Family Overnight Camping events, hosted by the Urban Park Rangers.

Some events may include a Ranger-led nighttime hike through the woods, storytelling, and s’mores. NYC Parks provides the tents and families bring their own sleeping bags and beddings.

Overnight camping events are extremely popular. In order to make sure that NYC Parks can accommodate families as fairly as possible, registration is conducted through an online lottery before each event.

The Family Camping program is hosting two new overnight camping experiences at the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The events will take place on Friday, September 25 and Friday, October 9.

The Urban Park Rangers will welcome 100 participants each evening. The evening will begin with icebreaker activities before campers pitch their tents and gather for dinner. Throughout the night, participants will join Urban Park Rangers for a night hike and wildlife viewing, nature games, stories around the campfire, s’mores and other activities.

NYC Parks will provide tents and sleeping bags for all participants. Sleeping bags can be taken home at the end of the program. Dinner and breakfast options will be available for purchase from a food truck, and families are welcome to bring their own food and snacks.

Participants will be selected through an online lottery, which was open from Thursday, September 10 through Sunday, September 13. Selected participants will be notified via email on Monday, September 14.
